Sarai Brunk: Little Boxes

Brunk was born in Henderson, Texas and spent a year of her childhood in Europe with her Mother. Her travels through France, Italy, Greece, still resonate with her. At the end of their journey they settled in Burbank, California. In 1990 she moved back to Texas to help her aging grandmother, wound up loving it there and stayed to raise her children who, although at times can be quite trying, serve as her inspiration.

Her interest in art started in high school. Brunk was an average student “just waiting to get out of school” but found art classes inspirational. “Art is what I truly love and breathe” and when the family wound up having only one vehicle, which kept her from traveling far from home, she looked for ways to use her passion for art to earn an income.

Stumbling onto the boxes was a happy accident. Her daughter was struggling with trying to fit all the mementos from her first child into her baby book. Sarai found a wooden box and painted it as a gift for her grandbaby's first birthday. Out of this, Little Boxes was born! So far it is not working out too bad.

Brunk works primarily in acrylics but likes to challenge herself in new mediums. Many of her themes lean toward the “dark side” but, much of her work is light and fanciful. She can design just about anything a client envisions on a box or a canvas; her goal is to bring your personal vision into reality on almost any surface. These whimsical, custom art creations make ideal, individualized gifts for any special occasion or person in your life. If you have an idea, she can make it happen.

Brunk lives with 3 of 5 grandchildren, one dog, one cat, a ferret named Turbo and a very understanding husband in Henderson, Texas.
