Gochi

Gochi: Steps, an exhibition featuring the art of architect and designer Gochi.

Gochi, Alfredo Montalvo Gochicoa, was born in Mexico City. Gochi is one of CBD’s resident artists. Trained at the National University of Mexico City, Gochi comes from Mexico City’s architectural tradition. He practiced architecture and designed and manufactured furniture in Mexico for two decades before moving to the Bay Area in 2000. He left his home and business in Mexico and moved to San Francisco from where he discovered the Sacramento Delta.

Gochi settled on the Delta in the spring of 2005 where he continued to design furniture, minimalistic sculptures and wall hangings in wood. The Steps compilation of designs and proposals includes paintings, tridimensional art, contemporary furniture and concept model homes; it is a record of a creative process that has evolved over the past two years. He is an artist, architect and furniture designer. A master craftsman and woodworker, Gochi makes his home in Locke.
